Cheap Groceries + Less Waste

Plus: Grow on Amazon with micro-influencers

In partnership with

Welcome Back, Fellow Parent

Groceries aren’t cheap right now. And if you’ve ever stood in front of your fridge wondering how $200 disappeared into a drawer full of wilting spinach, you’re not alone.

That’s why I’ve been trying out this app called Too Good To Go, and I think more parents need to know about it.

$32 worth of bakery items for only $7!

Here’s how it works: local stores, bakeries, and restaurants pack up “surprise bags” of food they didn’t sell that day—but that are still totally good to eat. You buy one through the app, usually for $4 to $9, and pick it up during a set time window.

You don’t choose what’s inside, but most people say the value is well worth it.

It’s perfect if you’re:

  • Trying to stretch your grocery budget without clipping coupons.

  • Okay with a little mystery at mealtime.

  • Tired of throwing out food and money.

It’s also a ton of fun! The picture above is one of our orders from Whole Foods. We only spent $7 and received ~$32 worth of food! Another trip we ended up with half a sheet cake! Forgot to take a picture.

Now, I’m not suggesting you binge on a ton of bakery items. We simply froze everything we didn’t eat within the first 24 hours which helped it last for much longer.

What’s really cool is you’re also helping fight food waste. Perfectly good meals and groceries don’t end up in the dumpster, and your family gets fed for cheap. That’s a win for your wallet and the planet.

The app is still growing, so there wasn’t a ton of available options in our area. You’re not going to meal prep your whole week off Too Good To Go. But if you’re looking for a low-effort way to feed your family and feel like a financial ninja while you’re at it, this one’s worth a shot.

P.S. I’m not an affiliate. Just a fan and wanted to help get the word out.

Note from The Dollar Dad:

Okay so I’ve been wary lately on including ads/sponsors on this newsletter, mainly because we’re constantly bombarded with ads everywhere we go now. However, Stack Influence caught my eye and I wanted to include them as a sponsor. Mainly because it’s a super interesting business model, but also because I’m noodling on an Amazon product idea or two and plan on trying this approach out once I get the product side figured out.

You essentially partner with micro influencers to get your product out into the market. Not a new concept, but if you’ve ever worked with influencers, it’s easier said than done. Sourcing alone is very time consuming. What makes Stack Influence stand out is that they’ll help source the right influencers with you, and then you only compensate the influencers with your product. This makes it feel much more authentic for prospective customers.

Take a minute and click below to learn more - it’s a great way to hack growth if you’re selling on Amazon (or if you want to make some extra cash as an influencer).
