Welcome Back, Fellow Parent
Can you believe it’s already October? Fall is here, the leaves are turning, and retailers have already put out a few aisles worth of tchotchkes no one really needs.
It’s been pretty hot lately in NC, but thankfully the summer heat is finally cooling off.
I’m super pumped for the holidays, but even though it’s a fun time, there’s always this looming financial obligation which comes with the season.
It’s been cited across the web that the average American spends upwards of $1k on average during the holidays. Which is pretty mind-blowing if you think about it.
Later this month we’ll look at ways to cut down those costs. But today, I want to cover ways to capitalize on the holiday season and make some extra cash.
Three quick ways to earn some extra cash include:
Delivery Driving: With holiday shopping at an all-time high, Amazon and FedEx are ramping up their need for drivers, especially in October through December. Amazon Flex allows you to use your own car to deliver packages, and you can easily make $18 to $25 per hour while setting your own schedule. FedEx also offers part-time seasonal driver positions, with earnings ranging from $15 to $30 per hour. The flexibility is key—you can choose shifts that work around your family life, making this a perfect hustle for busy parents.
Rent Out Baby Gear: If you’ve got baby gear lying around that your kids no longer use, why not make money off it? BabyQuip is a platform that lets you rent out strollers, cribs, car seats, and more to traveling families who need them. The holiday season is peak travel time, which means demand for baby gear is high. Depending on how many items you rent out, you could earn between $50 and $500 per month, all without having to buy anything new. Plus, it’s a great way to clear out your storage space and turn unused items into cash.
Gift-wrapping: Yes, you can make money wrapping gifts! What a world we live in. Offering gift-wrapping services is a fun and creative way to earn extra cash during the holiday season. Many people get overwhelmed with wrapping presents, so why not take it off their hands? You can offer your services locally and charge $5-$20 per gift, depending on the size and complexity of the wrapping. A perfect gig for weekends or after the kids are asleep.
